24. Maths DLO (Long Multiplication)

We are learning to properly Solve Long Multiplication

Kia ora,

Today, @Johfritz and I collaborated on our mathematics digital learning object (DLO) centered on Long Multiplication.

Creating this DLO proved to be relatively straightforward as our main tasks involved providing an explanation of Long Multiplication followed by illustrating it with an example.

What does salt water do to freshwater plants

—————————–

This writing is based on me pretending to be a farmer and can’t do anything about the disappearance of my crops, due to the Mediterranean river.

On a drowsy day in Spring when I was casually picking and watering my crops, I noticed a peculiar plant sprouting around my usual crops. Its vibrant purple petals stood out against the green foliage, captivating my attention. Curiosity piqued, I carefully examined the plant, wondering what it could be and how it found its way into my garden. As I inspected the plant, I noticed its leaves were shaped like hearts, adding to its allure. It seemed to radiate a faint, sweet fragrance that filled the air around it. I couldn’t help but wonder if this mysterious plant held any special properties or if it was simply a beautiful anomaly in my garden. But in the next couple of days, The Mediterranean sea drys up all the hard work, crops and all the beautiful crops I have made.

24.Idioms WK2 T2

Learning New Idioms

Kia ora,

We are Learning the skill of uncovering new idioms and integrating them into our everyday conversations.

This week’s idiom is “On the war,” which typically refers to actions that might annoy or provoke someone.
One way to incorporate the idiom “On the war” into our daily lives is by using it in situations where someone is intentionally trying to annoy or provoke us. For example, if a coworker keeps making snide remarks during a meeting, we can say, “It seems like they’re on the war today.” This not only shows our understanding of the idiom but also adds a touch of humour to the situation.

Tuhi mai, Tuhi atu

Kia ora,

We are learning to find out who they are

In this week’s “Tuhi mai, Tuhi atu” session, we focused on finding the school we will be joining. The school I will be discussing in particular is Paroa Greymouth School. It is one of the schools that has been actively commenting on our blogs this week. I believe that in the next session, we will begin commenting on their blog as well.

Initially, we mistakenly thought their school was located in Whakatane. However, we discovered that it is actually in Hokitika.

During our search for the school we will be joining, we came across Paroa Greymouth School. This particular school has been actively engaging with our blogs, and we anticipate reciprocating by commenting on their blog in the upcoming session. Although we initially believed their school was in Whakatane, we were pleasantly surprised to find it in Hokitika.

24. T2 Math-division DLO

Kia ora,

We are learning to find the easiest ways to work out divisions.

In this week’s Math DLO, our task was to work with a group of division factors. We had to find the product and factor of these numbers. Additionally, we were required to do the same with additions, and we named this group “Family of Facts.”
To complete the assignment, we first gathered a set of division factors. We then calculated the product and factor for each number in the group. Next, we repeated the process with addition, creating a collection of facts known as the “Family of Facts.” This activity helped us strengthen our understanding of mathematical operations and their relationships.

24. T1 Goals

Kia ora! I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to share with you the goals that my class and I have been diligently working on for Term 1/2024. It has been an exciting journey so far, filled with determination and a thirst for knowledge.

In the subject of maths, my personal goal is to reach stanine 6. I have been putting in extra effort to improve my understanding of percentages and ratios. By doing so, I aim to strengthen my foundation in these fundamental mathematical concepts, which will undoubtedly benefit me in the long run.

When it comes to reading, my goal is to enhance my comprehension skills. Specifically, I am focusing on reading the questions properly. This may seem like a small detail, but it can make a significant difference in my overall understanding and ability to provide accurate responses.

I am grateful for the opportunity to set these goals and work towards achieving them. It is through this process that I am learning the importance of self-reflection, perseverance, and the power of setting clear objectives. I am confident that by staying dedicated and putting in the necessary effort, I will be able to make significant progress in these areas.

Thank you for your support and encouragement as I embark on this journey of personal growth and academic development. I look forward to updating you on my progress as the term unfolds. Until then, take care and stay well.

24. Whanaungatanga

Kia ora,

In the past few days my class and I have been working on a “Whanaungatanga” Creation made on Google drawing. My Creation is made with dark and light colours using, white, black and red representing the Tino Rangatiratanga flag aka the Māori Flag. Making the border of this “Creation” was not that easy, because we had to use the Polyline tool to make mosaic (a form of glass art), and making mosaic is not that easy because I had to make some little shapes and some Big shapes, and most of it hurt my fingers.

24. NZ Opera

Kia ora,

Today, my classmates and I collaborated on a presentation about the NZ Opera and its notable composers. The NZ Opera showcases the tale of Nemorino, a daydreaming fish and chip shop owner from Māngere, who fantasises about Adina. Despite not being conventionally attractive, Nemorino’s charm shines through. However, his dreams are shattered by Belcore, a renowned actor. Nevertheless, Nemorino ultimately triumphs and wins Adina’s heart.

24. Portrait Poem

Kia Ora,

Today I have been working on my Portrait Poem. This poem is about who I am, What I am and Some things about me, Making this poem was easy because it’s all the things about me and what I believe in.
